Oh the other shoe.. where are you?

Well, as I am sure you have heard Woody and I have had quite the experience these past couple of days. Monday morning Woody was playing in a basketball class at school, he went up to get a rebound and something went seriously wrong on his way down. Wood says he can't remember how he landed or anything, but he broke both his tibia and his fibula. They were both completely broken and he had some bone fragments as well. He says that the snap was so loud his coach heard it from the opposite side of the gym... EW! So he went to the emergency room that morning. Unfortunately Woody's body and pain killers aren't friends. He got four shots of morphine on his way to the hospial and none of them worked... so they gave him something that sounds like phitenel which didn't work so then they gave him some dilauded. After this however he got a rash on his neck and chest... so he had an allergic reaction and then got some benidryl and steriods (Wood has never had this much medicine his whole life combined!!) and unfortunately dilauded is supposedly the best the hospital can give him, but he's allergic and none of the other pain killers really work for him.. so sad then Monday night he went into surgery. He had a rod put into his leg with nails to hold it in place by his knee and ankle. Both the rod and screws/nails (i dunno) are permanent, so any nicknames such as 'metal man' are now officially welcome... he'll go from being called wood to metal, that's an upgrade right? Metal is cooler than wood? ANYWAYS his surgery went for three hours when the doctor told us TWO! So that was a little nerve racking. But the doctor came after three hours, showed me a x-ray of the newly placed rod (it's HUGE!) and said that Woody was in recovery waking up and should be back in about 15-20 minutes. An HOUR later.. still no Woody! I finally went to ask a nurse who said that Woody had a reaction to the anesthesia, but would be coming back to the room shortly.

The surgery did go well and Woody is the biggest champ I know. yesterday he got up and walked on crutches (sp?) twice. The doctor came in this morning and unwrapped his leg and said he could go home after physical therapy today. His leg is still extremly swollen so the doctor said no moving around for Woody, but like I said he's a champ. He hardly complains and is even not very grumpy. Even though his pain medication is not the best. I have been just hangning out at the hospital and staring at the most handsome guy I know. His smile just brightens my day .. the best time of day is when he eats because he is always starving and his mood improves after he has had a good meal, and he looks pretty cute when he's eating :) I am so grateful for Woody and how he is handling this, he truly is tough tough tough and is still just as sweet as sweet can be to me.

Thank you all for your prayers and concerns we deeply appreciate them all and have felt them.

And for now Woody won't have to worry about his other shoe.. he just needs his right one :)

So, was the second one harder than you thought it would be? Should have been! :) The point of this being in the second one it is hard for us to say the color and not the word due to the fact that our brain processes the word so quickly that it can't help but spit it out! I thought it was pretty funny how hard such a simple task became.
I also found out that there are these glasses that make you see the world upside down, and after a day or so, your eyes flip the image so while wearing the glasses you see the world right side up. After your eyes have made the flip and you take the glasses off... you see the world upside down! And your eyes have to correct the image again. How cool is that?!
The mind truly is an amazing thing ... and a testimony of our Heavenly Father creating us

Tricked

I have this habit of mine where if Woody asks me if I want something to eat or drink, I don't really think about it I just say ' no thanks!'. What usually happens is Woody will go get a drink or a cookie or whatever, he'll come back and it will look real tempting. So I eat some of his. With this he'll become a little disgruntled, mostly amused and go get himself some more. BUT last night he made a trip to the kitchen and asked if I needed anything, I responded my usual reply, 'no thanks' and off he went. He came back with a cup of water, which upon site I realized I was thirsty and drank some of it and he pulled out a thing of fruit snacks. I looked at it, and my eyes got real wide and I got a little smile on my face and so he said 'ok you can have it' and tossed it to me! Holy cow, I thought how sweet is he that he would give up his fruit snacks. And then, mischievously, he pulled out another bag of fruit snacks! Saying that he knew I would have eating his so he just brought two
hahaha what a smart man.

ValEnTinES WeeKEnD

For valentines weekend Woody and I had the pleasure of venturing down to the b-e-a-utiful Las Vegas! Woody had to work Friday night, so Saturday morning we drove down to las vegas. The weather there was so beautiful it made me wonder why I ever moved to Utah... I know the reason I currently live there, just one, Woody. well and maybe brighton and Kherrington, and their parents but anyways... upon our arrival we helped out a little bit with getting the house ready for Heidi to have her party there that night and then pappa Albright took us frisbee golfing. What a perfect day for frisbee golfing. Dad and I played on a team and we beat woody!! Which is quite the feat because Woody is dang good.. he throws way too far! While we were playing frisbee golf we saw this group of kids in long flannel shirts, jeans and a few with cowboy hats and woody though.... what are all those polygamists doing?? And then he saw Heidi.... haha unintentionally we were spying on her during her date. Afterwards we hung out at the house for a little bit and then Woody took me to dinner for Valentines day to the Olive garden, which, as always, was delicious!! And VERY filling. On Sunday we went to Ryan's homecoming and it was sooo fun to see him again, he's still the good old Ryan a little matured :) he did great on his talk. We also snuck into Breyden's farewell and got to hear my cousins sing, which is always fun. Afterwards we hung out at the Newsons and played lots of games with the family!! IT was so much fun to be able to go home and hang out in the warm weather, I love the chance to go home and see my mom dad and heidi :) but now it is back to regular life

jAzZ gAmE

Woody and I went to our first jazz game on monday and we had soo much fun! We were supposed to go last monday, however our tickets never came!! So we bought some pizza and watched it at home.. I am proud to say I am officially a jazz fan.. I have a shirt, went to a game, and can name all of the players and a few other trivial facts about my Utah Jazz team. Woody and I had a blast, and since the Jazz are so flippin cool, and got six blocks, we got free tacos at Taco Bell!! Thanks Utah JAzz

Accent

I am fully aware that I do not say everything normal. Woody is always telling me that I pronounce 'milk' like 'melk' and 'pillow' like 'pellow'. I recently made gheridelli brownies and was pronouncing that with a 'j' sound whereas Woody (and a few others) informed me that it should be with a 'g' sound.... I have recently noticed that I delte the letter 'l' in the word 'always'. And everyone's personal favorite I pronounce 'dangit' like 'dane-it'... The list is never ending I swear. I also have the Albright girl voice.. we all sound the exact same, high pitched and all. I have been told a few times in my life that I have a hint of an accent, and people are usually disappointed when learning that I am from Las Vegas (apparently that's not where my accent should be from) However, I had an interesting comment today that threw me off gaurd. I got asked if I was from Texas. Really? Texas? Huh that's a new one.. I had said one sentence to the guy and the only thing I can think of that he picked up on was that I said ' how can i help YA' instead of 'how can i help you'... I guess I'll need to be more proper from now on and watch my pronounciation, word choice, and pitch

With Married Life Comes...

Woody and I have been married for a little bit over 2 months now! Seems like longer but at the same time, shorter. Weird how that works out. We are now getting into our grove of life, so I thought I'd share some if it with you!

- Woody and I are currently addicted to HOUSE. We started with innocently buying season 3 at Target during one of the big holiday sales. After watching this we decided we real liked this show and started with season one!
- The Jazz. Although this love is an old one for Woody it is a new one for me. Woody is turning me into an avid Jazz fan, and it all began by buying me a shirt. I now know the names of the players and am learning more about them.
- Puzzles. I have recently found out that Woody is a big fan of puzzles! After eating Sunday dinner at his mom's one night we stayed and worked on a puzzle for a couple of hours. The funny thing is, it was his mom's puzzle and she was in meetings so we finished most of it for her hehe. But after this we brought a puzzle home with us that is now currently on a table in our front room. This puzzle is stinking hard, and we haven't attempted any progress lately.
- Cooking. As a new wife I am learning the art of cooking. Mostly we stick to the basic easy stuff. We have made successful crunchy chicken (so good), Albright casserole, tacos, and other quick but yummy meals. I was so proud the other night. I picked out a new recipe and we tried it. To my surprise it actually turned out good!! I made my very first original (in that neither of us had ever had it) meal!
- Sunday School. Woody and I are Sunday school teachers! We teach the 14 year olds in our ward, and it is a wonderful calling. I love having the opportunity to sit in on his lessons every other week. Woody is such a spiritual giant and he is always amazing me with all of his knowledge! It's nice to have him there while i'm teaching so that he can answer all the questions that I cannot.
- Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites. This is probably our biggest addiction. Since we live in Alpine we drive at least an hour, usally more to and from work school and home. To pass the time we listen to books on tape, and we are on the tenth book of the Tennis shoes series! We love these stories, it is so cool to hear more about biblical and book of mormon times. It is also fun to be able to talk about the story with one another, like reading books together.

Being married is the best!! It is always such a relief to be able to go home to Woody and to never have to say goodnight. It is also my favorite part of the morning when I go into wake him up and snuggle before I leave. I have the best, better than all the rest, husband!
